I haven't played with this in mind for long enough to be completely sure about it, but my first try using this seemed to have positive effects.Ģ. For example, if you're current industry imports a lot of forestry products it helps to build new industry of the kind and connect the two industrial area's with a train connection.
Also it might help to balance your import with newly build industry. If you, for example, build an industrial area for oil industry and the oil under the industrial area runs dry the companies will start to import the raw resources, this highly increase the traffic. Import/export is not only increased with more industrial area's but also if they function like they should. I already use a lot of separated lines for different directions, but my city is already so busy with cargo trains that I get jams (have to solve that tonight).Īnother thing I noticed about truck and train use is the amount of import/export. The problem in my case is to limit the train traffic or at least get that flowing a little better. I place these stations always at a point where they don't mix with busy routes that already exist, so usually their not placed on avenue's and bigger roads. I use train stations in my new city for every industrial area and I might start using them for my commercial zones as well as that also reduces the highway traffic.
